The total area of potential effects for the proposed project is approximately 51.4 acres (20.8 hectares) in size and maximum depth of impacts from the proposed project will be 10 feet below the current ground surface. Survey of the Task 1 and Task 2 portion of the area of potential effects, approximately 40.74 acres (16.49 hectares) of the total 51.4-acre APE, was conducted prior to storm water improvements in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and its implementing regulations (36 CFR 800), as well as the Antiquities Code of Texas (Texas Natural Resources Code, Title 9, Chapter 191) and associated state regulations (Texas Administrative Code, Title 13, Chapter 26). The 100 percent pedestrian survey, augmented by 15 shovel tests and four trenches, identified no archeological sites within the area of potential effects. No further work is recommended at these locations. No artifacts were collected during the survey. Project field documentation, photos, etc. and final report will be curated at the Center for Archaeological Research at The University of Texas at San Antonio as required under terms and conditions of Texas Antiquities Permit No. 8136.
