Christian Lequesne, a professor at Science Po in Paris, a leading French expert on political science, in the preface of the introduction to Integration and movement presents the migration situation in France. France is a country with a rich experience of accepting generations of immigrants, of whom many already do not rise questions of their own origin, since they consider themselves as full-fledged Frenchmen. Lequesne mentions the concept of citizenship through the adoption of secular principles of the Republic, which facilitated generations of immigrants to integratate into the French society. But he also points out the potential difficulties associated with illegal migration and the increasing requirements of some immigrants for their own specificity (e. g. headscarves in schools for Muslim girls, etc.) which brings about passionate debates into the French society. Francie je země s bohatou zkušeností přijímání generací přistěhovalců, z nichž si již mnozí nekladou otázku svého vlastního původu, jelikož sami sebe považují za plnohodnotné Francouze. Lequesne zmiňuje koncepci občanství spočívající v přijetí laických principů republiky, která celým generacím přistěhovalců usnadnila integraci do francouzské společnosti. Zároveň ale také upozorňuje na možná úskalí spojená s nelegální migrací a na narůstající otevřené požadavky práva na vlastní specifičnost některých přistěhovalců (viz šátky ve školách u muslimských dívek apod.), jež vyvolávají ve francouzské společnosti vášnivé debaty.
