Thesepioneer settlers of the region broughtwith them a lithic repertoire of theHamburgian Havelte tradition and arein Denmark known from sites separatedinto two somewhat delineated occupationareas, one of which is in southernJutland at the Jels Lakes. The sites withinthis settlement pocket are similar inseveralaspects, and interpretations ofthese sites making out one concurrentoccupation have previously been proposed,yet rarely followed up upon. Inthis paper the question of contemporaneitybetween the two sites is revisited.With relevance to the rhythms of settlementor, indeed, of contemporaneity,within the Hamburgian micro-regionat Jels, first attempts at refitting lithicmaterial from these sites have been conducted.Impressions are here presentedand future perspectives assessed.
