This book raises questions about the cultural production and methods of presentation during the Syrian crisis, and how cultural practices become established within the local, regional and global context of arts and culture. Which role do intellectuals play in a time of crisis? How do political and social changes affect cultural practices? And how do crises emboss cultural identities? The publication observes the relationship between politics and art, the challenge of dealing with archival materials and language, feminism, theatre and body, and the funding through cultural institutions. »Call for Applications!« collects 145 questions as an application prepared by eight artists and cultural producers in the frame of a collaborative artistic work entitled »Syrian Association for Cultural Support«.
