In "Ice Blink: an Antarctic Imaginary" Anne Noble explores representations of Antarctica through photographs of museum dioramas, amusement parks, aquariums, research stations, souvenirs, maps, and scenic tours. Noble's research reveals how popular impressions of the Antarctic are formed through artificial tableaus that focus on picturesque wilderness, inviting travel but rendering the traveler blind to geographic reality.
