Articles in this issue include: Our COAlition- The Raritan Riverkeeper; State Approval Puts Nuke Plant Closer to Re-licensing, Groups Condemn "Deal with Devil"; The Saga Continues with Offshore Fossil Fuel Scams; Questioning Mud from NY/NJ Harbor Deepening; Become an Endangered Beach Nesting Bird Volunteer; Coastal Creature Feature: Harbor Seal; Plunging into 2008 for the Ocean; and COA Navigates Four-Star Waters. Clean Ocean Action (COA) is a broad-based coalition of over 150 business, community, conservation, environmental, fishing, boating, diving, student, surfing, women's, and service groups. These "Ocean Wavemakers" work to clean up and protect the waters of the New York Bight (the area of water from Cape May, New Jersey, to Montauk Point, New York, and out to the edge of the outer continental shelf). The groups came together in 1984 to investigate sources, effects, and solutions of ocean pollution. Purpose: To inform citizens about critical ocean pollution issues, proposed legislation, important Clean Ocean Action meeting dates, special events, and other notes of interest.
