Description
Summary:Krummi is a multimedia performance, choreographed and directed by Heike Salzer and commissioned by Merge Dance Company at Texas State University. The piece explores Nordic mythology and in particular the old Icelandic poem ‘Krummivisur’ – The Raven’s song. The piece explores a sophisticated interrelationship of aural and visual rhythms. Via the dialogues of the rhythm of movement/choreography on stage, composition of the sites and movements on the screen and the rhythm of the edit and the soundscape, the piece creates an aesthetic and visceral experience for the audience. The screen-choreography of this work is created by moving nature, challenging the perception of screendance in its traditional form and shape, by presenting work without human dancers; the moving elements of nature such as geothermal landscape, water, steam and ravens as well as the kinaesthetic camera moving camera are edited to a visual choreography of moving images ,where the ravens and moving nature elements are choreographed on the screen.
