The screening is part of the curated series Rhythm is a Dancer - Throughout the year Public Art Screens presents various international artists working with videoart relating to dance- every month a new artist will be presented with 4-5 works. The five short dance videos represented in Public Art Screens program are part of the series Bekkur/Baenk B1,2,3,…which was filmed in Iceland and Denmark. The project was inspired by the strong connection of the two Nordic countries, the particular architecture and landscape of the North and the connectedness and melancholic feeling of ‘home’, that the two nomadic producing artists of salts experience to these places. Bekkur/Baenk 1,2,3. present a poetic imagery of the ‘North’, where the dancers in the two different countries are never together in real, but interact with each other on the two dimensional screens. They meet and create a new imaginary space for the audience, in which geographical boundaries are overcome. The creation of Bekkur/Baenk 1,2,3. was developed through an associative process of ‘experiencing space’, capturing the atmosphere of each particular location.
