The paper presents the results of investigations conducted during eight expeditions to the Korean People's Democratic Republic. The observations included faunistic rarities (Pernis ptilorhyncus, Gallinago solitaria, Emberiza sulphurata) and species with under breeding ranges (Actitis hypoleucos, Corvus dauuricus, Turdus chrysolaus) Changes of ranges and numbers of some species (Phalacrocorax carbo, Otis tarda, Falco tinnunculus, Falco subbuteo, Accipiter soloensis) are discussed, and the status of rare and endangered species throughout the world (Egretta intermedia, Egretta eulophotes, Ciconia boyciana, Nipponia nippon, Larus saundersi, Eurynorhynchus pygmaeus) is also commented on. Przedstawiono najważniejsze wyniki badań awifauny półwyspu koreańskiego, zebrane podczas ośmiu ekspedycji do KRL-D zorganizowanych w latach 1978-1991 przez Instytut Systematyki i Ewolucji Zwierząt PAN w Krakowie. Wśród 177 stwierdzonych gatunków były faunistyczne rzadkości tj. stwierdzone po raz pierwszy (Emberiza sulphurata) lub obserwowane w KRL-D zaledwie kilkakrotnie (m.in. Pernis ptilorhyncus i Gallinago solitaria - Fig. 1, 2). Dla kilku gatunków poszerzono o terytorium KRL-D teren lęgowisk (m.in. Actitis hypoleucos, Corvus dauuricus, Turdus chrysolaus - Fig. 4, 5, 6) lub zimowisk (Tadorna ferruginea - Fig. 7). Stwierdzono, że w ciągu ostatniego stulecia wzrosła liczebność Falco tinnunculus, Falco subbuteo i Accipiter soloensis, natomiast niemal zupełnie wycofały się: Phalacrocorax carbo oraz Otis tarda.
