Summary: | The purpose of this research is to compare the Assembly of First Nations and a northern Ontario First Nation’s definition of Culture Based Education (CBE). The study also explores how the integration of CBE takes place in the local First Nation school system. It incorporates an Indigenous Knowledge framework using qualitative data based on community interviews with Elders, a parent-teacher group and teachers from a local First Nation school. This research is of benefit to both First Nations in the areas of school curriculum planning and to academics seeking to understand CBE and its application in First Nation schools. M.Ed. |
