The observations, obtained during two ship-based voyages south of Australia and New Zealand, revealed the impact of meteorology and marine biological productivity on the concentration and cloud-relevant properties of the marine aerosols. Comparison was made against an array of published empirical models for sea spray production to investigate their relevance for this region.
