Several new restaurants have opened as a spinoff of that activity, including the Waterworks Restaurant. Rockland was recently ranked among the 100 most livable small cities in the country. The demise of the odoriferous SeaPro fish-rendering plant in 1989 opened up the harbor, which hosts the Great Schooner Races, the Friendship Sloop Society, and the North Atlantic Blues Festival.
