Projekti za razvoj ruralnog turizma putem europskih fondova su jako važni Republici Hrvatskoj zbog njezinog tranzitnog položaja, kao i regije Like koja je tzv. prag Europe. Ličko-senjska županija unatoč bogatoj turističkoj ponudi, položajem može postati jedan od aduta u turističkoj ponudi Republike Hrvatske u cjelini. Problemi sa kojima se susreće razvoj turizma na području Like su iseljavanje, mali broj stanovnika na velikoj geografskoj površini i slab razvoj, ulaganje i investiranje u turizam. Potporom Europskih projekata i fondova, Lika može omogućiti razvoj svih oblika turizma jer pruža različita bogatstva. EAFRD program najviše pogoduje razvoju turizma u Lici, jer potiče razvoj turizma u selima i gradovima, daje se perspektiva stanovnicima ali i mladima da investiraju i žive od turizma, kao i od ostalih djelatnosti koji su dosta zastupljeni na području Like. Spoj ruralnog turizma, eko proizvodnje, unikatnih proizvoda i netaknute prirode obogaćuje turističku ponudu i mogu regiju Like svrstati u sami vrh nacionalnog turizma, samim time, Lika može postati turistička destinacija sa najraznovrsnijom ponudom na području Republike Hrvatske. Rural tourism development projects are of great importance to the Republic of Croatia, given its transit role, and especially for the region of Lika which is the “doorstep” of Europe. Ličkosenjska County, despite its rich tourism offerings, can become one of the highlights of Croatia’s tourism. The problems facing Lika’s tourism are emigration, low population density in a big geographical area and slow development with low level of investment. By using European projects and funds, Lika can enable development of all forms of tourism because it provides various opportunities. The EAFRD programme mostly favours tourism development in Lika because it supports development both of the countryside and in cities. This gives a new perspective to the populace, especially the young people, encouraging them to invest in tourism, as well as other activities existing in Lika. The combination of rural tourism, ecological production, unique products and untouched nature can place Lika’s offer at the top of Croatia’s tourism and thus make it the region with most diverse tourism in the entire country.
