Filters were then stored frozen in aluminum foil until measurement at the home laboratory in Aarhus University, Denmark where filters were extracted in 10 mL acetone at 4 °C for 16 h. The Chl-a concentrations were subsequently determined using a Turner Design TD700 fluorometer.
