Downcore and single benthic foraminiferal δ18O data from Cape Hatteras and Blake Outer Ridge during the last 25 ka BP

This dataset contains downcore benthic δ18O data from four cores at Cape Hatteras (for each core there is data from between one and three different benthic foraminifera species). Also included are single foraminiferal δ18O and δ13C measurements from Blake Outer Ridge core ODP-172-1054 during the LGM...

Description
Summary:This dataset contains downcore benthic δ18O data from four cores at Cape Hatteras (for each core there is data from between one and three different benthic foraminifera species). Also included are single foraminiferal δ18O and δ13C measurements from Blake Outer Ridge core ODP-172-1054 during the LGM. Benthic foraminifera were picked from the >212 μm sediment size fraction, with samples typically consisting of between 5 and 15 specimens and weighing between 25 and 212 212 μg. Depending on sample size, stable isotope measurements were performed using a VG Isogas SIRA mass spectrometer with Multicarb preparation system (>80 μg) and a Thermo MAT253 isotope ratio mass spectrometer with Kiel IV carbonate preparation device (<80 μg) at the Godwin Laboratory, University of Cambridge. δ18O and δ13C are reported relative to the Vienna Peedee belemnite (VPDB) standard, and for both instruments analytical precision is estimated to be better than ±0.07 ‰ and ±0.04 ‰ respectively.
