Stable water isotope composition of precipitation samples from Bernardo O'Higgins station, northern Antarctic Peninsula (December 2015-December 2017)

Precipitation samples were collected at Bernardo O'Higgins station, northern Antarctic Peninsula, between December 2015 and December 2017. For sample collection a self-designed pluviometer consisting of a funnel tightly connected to a 250 ml PE reservoir to avoid evaporation/sublimation was use...

For sample collection a self-designed pluviometer consisting of a funnel tightly connected to a 250 ml PE reservoir to avoid evaporation/sublimation was used. The stable water isotope composition of the precipitation samples was measured in December 2018 using cavity ring-down spectrometers L2130-i and L2140-i (Picarro Inc.) coupled to an auto-sampler (L2130-i: PAL HTC-xt, CTC Analytics AG; L2140-i: Picarro Autosampler, Picarro Inc.). The precipitation isotopic data can be used for studying the origin of moisture reaching the northern Antarctic Peninsula. Furthermore, the dataset extends previously published data by Fernandoy et al. (2012, 2018) on the stable water isotope composition of precipitation from Bernardo O'Higgins station and hence allows to derive a better constrained Local Meteoric Water Line for the northern Antarctic Peninsula region.
