Horizon at Neumayer Station (2021-02-24)

On 2021-02-24 the horizon at the BSRN measurement site at Neumayer Station was measured with a theodolite. Being located on an ice-shelf, the topography is generally flat. There are three identifiable natural obstacles in the vicinity, namely Atka-Eiskuppel (ice-rise), Halvfarryggen and Søråsen (bot...

The vertical extend of the anthropogenic hill on which the main station building is situated is approximately 10m. Horizontally, the anthropogenic accumulation extends several hundreds of meters (approx. 500m eastwards, and 1000m westwards). Seen from the BSRN site, which is situated some 300m south-east of the main station building, the accumulation extends from azimuth 279° (west) to 15° (north-north-east).
