An overview of tethered balloon-borne measurements of turbulence during the MOSAiC expedition from December 2019 to May 2020
This is a dataset of a hot-wire anemometer package attached to a tethered balloon. The tethered balloon was operated from an ice floe next to Polarstern during leg 1, 2, and 3 of the MOSAiC (Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate) expedition. The tethered balloon meas...

Summary: | This is a dataset of a hot-wire anemometer package attached to a tethered balloon. The tethered balloon was operated from an ice floe next to Polarstern during leg 1, 2, and 3 of the MOSAiC (Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate) expedition. The tethered balloon measurements were taken on 35 days between 2019-12-06 and 2020-05-06 (during polar night and spring). The dataset includes vertical profiles of turbulence measurements up to typically around 600m (~200m to ~1450m). |
