Number 19. erishing gods at Stake, -: 0:- Perishing souls at stake to- day Says the banner of Christ unfurled, pleading in love for help to save Blood bought sinners all o'er this world. ao,- Perishing souls at stake my brother, 0 what is all this world beside; Perishing souls at stake my brother For whom the blessed Savior died. Perishing souls, perishing souls, 0 who will help to save the lost. Perishing souls at stake we see, Yet the Savior has died for all; Go and invite them earnestly, Some will surely obey the call. Perishing souls at stake to- day, There's a famine in all the land: Many are dying for the bread, Freely given by Jesus' hand. Perishing souls at stake; go tell What the Savior has done for yon; How He redeemed thy soul from hell, And is able to save them too. Perishing souls atstake we know, 0 do pity the sinner's fate; Brother and- sister will you go, Give them warning before to late. Perishing souls at stake to- day, Can you tarry for earthly dross? Fly to the rescue, don't delay, Bring the needy to Jesus' cross. No one is permitted to re- print this . song without pernasston from the author. . The above song will appear in the new book with beautiful music by Bro. Fisher. It was suggested to our mind by a solemn Vision given to Bro. Chit Ogan of Latta 0, on the night previous to Sep. 19. He saw Christ displaying a banner, upon w hich w written these words; " Perishing souls at stake." That day we had a very solemn meeting at Jerry City 0. The Spirit of God was present, making imper-ative calle for workere in the vineyard. Our soul ' was burdened with an awful sence of perishing souls at stake. All hearts were melted before the Lord. They wanted me to join,- and thinking I could not serve God if I did not belong to some church, as they called it, I did so. But 0 how many times was my heart madeto ache on account of the pride and selfishness I saw manifested in the members. It seemed that the ones that wore the finest clothes, and could make the bigest show were the best Christ-ians, and they would hardly notice a Poor person, or shake bands with such. Many times, from the man- fearing spirit that was in me, and the coldness that was shown me, I neglected to do my duty, so I went on in this way for six • or seven-years. I then read , a book on holiness, but I thought this great blessing was only for preachers, or certain ones that had to work for the Lord, but not for such an un-worthy creature as I. But I loved to read the book, and read it over many times. So the Lord convicted me for holiness of heart, and I tried to consecrate: myself to the Lord, but I did not have the , right understanding, and I had so much to give, up, and I was always looking for a sign, or something that I might know that I was sanctified but I was not satisfied. When I heard others give in such strong testimonies, I felt that my testimony did not come up to theirs. But I did not know what to do, I had consecrated` my-self so many times that I felt some times that it was no use for me to try any more. But praise God ! He sent Bro. and sister Fisher to our place, and he taught us the way of God more' perfectly, and I get won-derfully in earliest about my soul. I came forward to the altar and gave myself up to the Lord and did not care what He done with me. I just gave up every thing and took the, Lord's Word, for He says it is His will even our sanctification, and 1 claimed it on the authority of God. Hallelujah to God, for freedom, for I know what it is to be crushed down in the sects. - When I was about 16 years old, the Lord convicted me of my sins, and I felt that I was an awful sinner in the sight of God, and that if I did not repent I would be lost. I went tb the altar and called on the Lord to have mercy on me, and I then realized that my sins were forgiven, and 0 what sweet peace filled my soul. I joined the T. Y. B. sect. This sect was the one I had been brought up in, and of course I thought it was the best. It was a very beautiful and large building, that cost many thousand dollars, and recently the whole building was burned to the- ground, without doubt by the hands Of the wicked romish incen-diaries. Thus the battle goes on between truth and salvation on one side, , and the spirit of murder and midnight romish crime on the other. The Lord bless those faithful man, who are exposing their very lives to the bloody hands of the old massaoreeing mother of wickedness, for the sake Of winning some of them froni their infamous, stupid., soul-murdering creed. There is quite a stir on this line, espe cially among the French Catholics, and priests. Many are renouncing the super-stitions of Rome, and. espousing Christ. Let all the saints pray to God that these teachers may enter the blessed holy rest of entire sanctification, and may properly' apprehend the Body of Christ, the only Church of the Bible. They are calling for financial help, and we wish them abund-ance but real Holy Spirit sanctificatio and anointing is far more needed. Men cannot expect Catholics to renounce their old sect, when nothing better is held up to them than corrupt protestantism. Just put the mother and her daughters all to-gether in one sack, and hold up Christ only; His body the true Church, ante- da-ting all the inventions of men. Linen! Daniel. UNITED SPIRITS EAR Brethren:.— Grace mercy and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, as the Lord has stirred up the gift within. I again endeavor to ed-ify you by writing to the saints scattered abroad. I have been at Williamston a few days. I had been at the Beaverdam Ind., assembly meeting, an account of which you saw in the TRUMPET. After the meeting Bro. Daniel went west, leaviag me and others at Beaver Dam. As , he thought it might be to the glory of God, for me to work in a band which the Lord is forming there for the winter. After he had gone the fire burned within me to be in the work, and could not possibly sit still until he returned, so I launched out with , the sweetness of the abiding Com-forter welling up within as an equipment for the war. I went some three miles south- west of Beaver Darn, and conainieg to a school house thought I would try that, so after seine trouble found- the director. There were three men in a field, two of whom were turning over clover seed. I knew in a moment there was no friend-ship in him - or real vital Christianity. He, questioned me about my doctrine, I told him holiness unto the Lord, and being saved from all sin. Then the devil, slum-bering within before, began to foam and rave. " You think Said he, to come into this community and turn this place up-side down as you have in Beaver Dam preaching- this doctrine of sanctification. Before Fisher and Warner came to Beaver- Dam they were quiet, but now it is divid-ed. I and this other man are members of the United Brethren church, and we will not have this good quiet community stirred up," Yes, I said they that turn the world up- side down have come hither also. Think not that I have come to bring peace into the world, but a sword. Sup-pose ye that I am come to give peace on the earth? I tell you nay, but rather division. For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided three against two, and two against three.— Luke 12: 51, 5E 0 how the Word cuf them, and how they foamed, with milder in their looks, they ordered me out of their coasts, at the same time they as much. as said if I did not go they would stick the pitch fork in me. Enough said, I replied, and started to leave our United Brethren. Even the dog they had was united in the same spir-it, and came barking after me. Bro. War-ner says it would'have been a good time to have taken a stump, and preached to them the words of Stephen. " Ye stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears. Ye do always resist the Holy Spirit, as your fathers did so do ye." I Jeflthern in the hands of God, to meet them in the judgement. It being revealed to me by the Spirit that He did not want methere longer in that community, I wiped the dust off and started for Mich. 1 praise God for the quieting comforting influence of the abid-ing Comforter. But the extreme filthiness, and debauchery and utter indecency of that slum of rottenness is its best protec-tion. It is too nasty to be described to any refined ears. Hence the world is largely ignorant of the great " mother of harlots, and abominations of the whole earth." Bro. Seguin remarked that this nation had two great foes, namely Rum and Rome; and these two were most nearly related. On transubstantiation he re-marked, " If by the few words of the priest the bread and wine were actually changed into the flesh and blood, bone, muscle and actual clothes of Christ, why is it that the blood ( the wine) yet has its intoxicating power ? Would a sip of the actual blood of Christ go to ones head, in actual intox-ication." He showed the gross absurdity of purgatory. " An imaginary ocean of fire for souls, but a real ocean of money tor the priests." The horrible stupidity of the Romish victims who can believe the dogma of souls in flames of fire, de-pendent upon the priests mass to extricate them, and the same time have confidence in those priests, who will not say a mass without being paid for it. No matter how utterly poor, and unable to pay for amass to helP a nearest friend out of purgatory, the ungodly priest gives but the heartless answer " no money, no mass." Is it pos-sible that men and women of the small-est degree ofcommon sense, can believe in the purgatory humbug, and yet think a priest, any thing but an inhuman beast, a moneter equal to the devil himself, if he can see your friend burn and wail in fire, because you have no money to pay for his few words of superstitious pow- wow ? Yes, so deep and cruel is the power of even a satanic religion, that when it once has the victim fully in its despotic grip, it stumfies all common sense and reason. It is gratifying indeed that God in His infinite mercy is reaching some of those poor darkened souls with the gift of His salvation. Bro. Chiniquy, after having been a priest of Rome 25 years, was converted to God 26 years ago and in those 26 years, thou-sands of Romanists have been converted through his labors. He has been hated and persecuted very much by the old bloody sect. Cast in jail several times. At one time two wicked priests plotted his ruin. A sister of one of them was to swear a penitentiary crime upon him. He was arrested, and the scheme had been so adroitly laid, and the suborned witnesses so conclusive that there seemed no hope for his acquittal. But at the hotel, dur-ing the night previous to the trial, God smote the woman's conscience and she spake out aloud. " Tomorrow I am to ap-pear before Chiniquy, to have him put to penitentiary for life. But he is innocent, and I fear to thus swear to a falsehood. I Will not do it." Now in the providence of God Abra-ham Lincoln was sleeping in an adjoin-ing room, and heard these words. And ere the morning light he went to the ex priests room, called him up and related the glad tidings that God had delivered him out of the hands of his enemies, • and all them that hated him. This • beautiful and interesting story of Divine protection was related to us by brother Seguin, who was the 16th Romish priest that God con-verted thiough the labors of brother Chin-quy. Which took place five years ago, in his " Home for Converted Priests " at St —: 0:— AN EXPERIENCE AND MIRACLE. —: o:— EAR brethren :— I am led of the Lord to write for the glory of God and the good of the readers of the Tit. umP-ET, some of my experience. This morning finds me fully saved from all sin, and I do praise God for salvation full and free. About three years ago I went to the altar to seek the Lord, a poor sinner. I called on God to have mercy on me. The next night I went again, and gotin greater earnest. God showed me my sins, and 1 telt awful. I confessed my sins, and God for Christ's sake forgave me. 0 what a load was taken off my heart. Glory to God forever! I felt so light and clear in the sight of God. In a few days the preacher opened the doors of his sect: Companion and I, not knowing any better, were taken in. We took up family worship, and longed to do our duty in all things. But it seems I could not make any headway, and soon became discouraged. ' Examin-ing my heart, I often found myself under condemnation. I would go to meeting and hear nothing but " prone to wander." Thus they upheld me in my heart wander-ings. But I did not, feel right in the sight of God, and soon found myself back in the world. Two years after I heard of these holiness people. I went to hear them, but did not like them. But I was soon convinced that they preached the Word. of God. It hit my case so well, and God gave me light Oh the Word. I felt the need of two works of grace. Conviction became so strong toat I could snot resist it. I went forward and soon found myself a child of God. Then I began to seek a pure heart. As I consecrated my will to God, He showed me I must be buried with Christ in bap-tism. I obeyed God, and in the act of baptism, I got a great blessing, that my tongue cannot express. Then I presented this body a living sacrifice to God, which was my reasonable service and God sanctified me by the Holy Spirit, through the precious blood of Christ. Glory to God forever for such a salvation I And praise His holy name, I am sanctified. wholly to- day. I want to tell how God manifested Him-self last Lord's day, and wrought A MIRACLE. God's little ones had. assembled togeth-er, singing the beautifulsongs of salvation, praying and testifying to the glory of God. The meeting was in a very good Spirit. , A brother siting very close to the win-dow providentially looked out, and saw one of the little girls fall Into the well. He gave the alarm, aud we all rushed out to the well immediately. I was the first there, and saw the child down in the water. I thought it was Bro. Dudgeon's little girl. - I was in the hands of God, and His power came on me - great-ly. Oh! such power I never had felt before: Down into the well I went. The wall Was of brick, and it was 10 or 12 feet to the water and the water was about six feet deep. I slid down to the water, and the power of God stopped me there and placed my feet on a rock, one on each side of the well. " I reached down and re-ceived the child safe, and then perceived it was my own child. They let a ladder down and I came up safelyi not so much as getting the soles of my feet wet. I do praise God foe the right use of my mind. I am not an excitable man, and I am so surprised to think God would ' thus show His power in me. Brethren let us be bold soldiers for Jes-us. I do thank God for such a salvation; that can venture my lire for any thing, just so it is for the glory of God. And I am so wonderfully saved from all sects Glory to God forever! I ever expect to do the whole will of God. I ask an in-treat in your prayers, that I may prove faithful. Your Brother saved and sanCti lied, and kept by the power of God unto He y Ramsey. salvation. Price MARRIED. —: 0:— EXPERIENCE PAST AND PRESENT. —: o:— EAR BRETHREN:— I think of writ-ing my present testimony for the TRUMPET. . it may be for the glory of God to write briefly some of my past experience. God in His great mercy sanc-tified my. soul 35 years ago. I was teach-ing school in York' State, my attention was called to the subject by reading Wes-ley's plain account of Christian perfection What an intense longing of soul I then felt for that higher state of grace. There was preaching in the school house where I taught, I talked With the minister. He said I would grow up into that state of grace gradually. So I settled down on that for a time. But God by His blessed Spirit called these things to my mind, and so it went on for years. But the crisis came, God saw fit to afflict me. I then saw by the light of the Spirit that nothing but holiness would enable me' to endure the trial. I went into a room and shut myself in with God. I felt it was purity of heart, salvation from all sin, or hell. I began to plead, " Lord if Thou wilt Thou canst make Me clean." As I was pleading, these words were applied to my heart, " 1 will, be thou clean." And I felt the cleansing blood go through my soul. I rose up and began to Praise God. for the work He had wrought. But the tempter said, you had better be careful, it may not be the clensing after all. I went back, got down on my knees, a1 told. my Father all about it, and the. need felt of having the witness. so clear- that the enemy could not take me on that ground - again and as I was pleading I felt the impress of a hand on my brow, and God let down such a halo of glory in-to my soul, and I was so overpowered by the cleansing blood of Jesus that I be-came unconscious to earth for a time. When I came to myself the room was so filled with the glory of dod, and it seemed that I breathed the atmosphere of heaven. Glory to God and the Lamb forever I I have never dared to doubt the genuine-ness of the work. But there has been times when I did not enjoy all the ful-ness, and when I came to the Williamaton camp meeting I was like a cart pressed under sheaves. Bless God for the light and glory He has let shine into my soul since then. I am not free from trials, but glory to Jesus, I am kept by the power of God, and saved with a present salva-tion all the while. The present- year has been the very best of my life. The bless-ed Jesus takes me at times up into the holy mount and fills me with the excellent _ glory. Praise His name forever I I am free from sectisrn, - for those that the Son makes free. are free indeed. Bless the Lord! Who shall separate Me from the_ love of Christ? shall tribulation or perse-cution ? Nay, in all these things I am more than conqueror through Him that loved me. 0 glory to Jesus! " I am cru-cified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I but Christ liveth in me. I can do all things through Christ which strength-eneth me." Hallelujah to the Lamb! I will write a little of my experience. About 2( 3 years ago I first found Jesus in the pardon of my sins, I was in earn-est, walked in all the light I had, but I was in bondage in babylon. Praise the Lord forever! I got out of her, and stlayed outs about ten years. I attended the Free Methodist some, but did not join them. Then I begau looking down into my heart. I soon found out that I was not yet entirely pure, then I began to dig deep into my heart. Jost then theM. E. preacher came around belting for us to jein their sect again. So we were foollish enough to go in once more on probation. But praise God forever and ever hwe are out again, to stay out this time. We stand out side of all sects to- day bless God. We are just as free as the birds in the air. When the saints came around here preaching God's hely Word, just as it is written, and holding- up the light of pure truth,- I could see that I needed a second work of grace in my heart. - Bless God for what Re has done for me. I can say to-day that I am sweetly saved, washed in the blood of the Lamb, established forever in the Lord. He has saved my soul, plucked up the root of bitterness and. cast out fear, for " perfect love casteth out fear : He that feareth is not made perfect in love." If God has power to preserve us from all sin we certainaly are very faithless if we can notitrust Him to preserve our frail bod-ies; for He is able to keep all that is en-trusted to His care, and. we will not be tempted above what we are able to - bear but with the temptation provide a way of escape. These precious promises greatly cheer my soul. I have entered into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. I hope he will continue to ridicule them; if it will have any effect upon them to get them straight for God, and Bible holiness. It is also a disgraceful fact that we have many holiness professors in Mo., who use tobacco, some sell it, others mile it. And they will all get mad AS a hornet, if re proved for their evil deeds. Yet they say they are sanctified wholly. Then many of our dear sisters, if we may be ' allowed to call them such, dress after the fashions of the day. I went tb the altar and called on the Lord to have mercy on me, and I then realized that my sins were forgiven, and 0 what sweet peace filled my soul. I joined the T. Y. B. sect. This sect was the one I had been brought up in, and of course I thought it was the best. For a while I enjoyed myself., for I was in earnest in serving the Lord; but some times - I would do things that would con-demn me, and then I would feel very sorry about it and ask the Lord to forgive me, .3 111 Tel ine so. you () le Ye not that ye are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you ? Seguin from Detroit, spent a few days with us, lecturing on the abominations of Catholicism, out of which sink of iniquity, he has made his escape, having been a priest of that wicked sys-tem of deception for 14 years. He drew aside the vail that covers the rottenness and stupendous wickedness of that Romish pit, as far as it is prudent to disclose the horrible scene before a decent congregation. Praise the Lord, it does my soul good to read the-- TRUMPET. I : see so many dear saints are coining out, in the pure light, free from babylon. It sets my soul on fire. I praise the Lord for sending Bro. Cole, and sister Cole here for they have done us so much good. Hallelujah to God for His blessed angels to blow the TRUMPET! Cry aloud, and spare not. The harvest is plenty, but the laborers are few. loan say this morn-ing that I am, through the grace of God, cleansed by the blood of Christ, from to-bacco, and all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. I want to obey the Scripture which says' " be ye holy, in all manner of con-versation " because it is written, " Be ye holy, for I am holy." 0 praise the Lord!, Your sister saved and sanctified, : stand-ing on the sea of glass, mingled with fire, having the victory over the beast. Stand by the truth brethren, if the Sun, Moon and stars refuse to shine. " Let God be true, and every man a liar." Amen! You may guess how straight, or rather how crooked, they are at College. Mound when I tell you, one of the teachers in Pauline Holiness College stayed with them two years, and yet was a zealous sectarian all the time, using his influence against the one true Church of God. He left them this fall, and joined the Mo. conference of Southern Methodist babylon. And they say he went to conference, and made much fun of those holiness people. Well that was good for them. By the help of God, some of us reprove these things, then withdraw from every brother that walketh disorderly. We give glory and honor forever, for calling us out of all babal confusion, to touch the un-clean no more forever. Hallelujah! Amen! Your blood washed brother. D. M. Creighton. GENEVA CENTER, MICH.
