We present strategies to identify time periods when local aerosol sources impact the data collected at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) user facility in the Eastern North Atlantic (ENA). Data from the aerosol observing system (AOS) at the Central Facility and a temporary aerosol Supplementary Site (S1) were evaluated. S1 instrumentation was deployed within 0.75 km of the ENA Central Facility (C1) for approximately one year. Two time periods, one during the summer and one during the winter, were examined in support of the Aerosol and Cloud Experiments in the Eastern North Atlantic (ACE-ENA) intensive operating periods (IOPs) in 2017 and 2018.
