The following six irradiance measurements are collected from a network of stations to help determine the total radiative flux exchange at each of the primary U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) field research sites—(Southern Great Plains [SGP], North Slope of Alaska [NSA)]and Eastern North Atlantic [ENA])—as well as the ARM mobile facilities (AMF): Direct normal shortwave (solar beam), Diffuse horizontal shortwave (sky), Global horizontal shortwave (total hemispheric), Upwelling shortwave (reflected), Downwelling longwave (atmospheric infrared), Upwelling longwave (surface infrared).
