Interference with microorganisms is also considered. Les formes de dissolution sont assez rares au Québec. Un certain nombre de concrétions se sont formées à proximité immédiate d'un pergélisol; d'autres sont postérieures, mais toutes les concrétions observées sont de climat frais ou froid. L'influence de micro-organismes sur les conditions physico-chimiques du milieu est aussi prise en considération.
