Watery Weather: Roni Horn in Iceland

This is an extended review and analysis of Roni's Horn's installation project 'Vatnasafan/Library of Water' in the Icelandic harbour town of Stykkisholmur, and the accompanying publication edited by Horn, 'Weather Reports You', of 2007. The art project is explored here in relation to easthetic and cultural concerns within Conceptual Art and Icelandic culture. Horn's use of the theme of the 'weather' is examined in relation to both her own artistic leagcy and some of the environomental and cultural issues which affect modern life in Iceland. It is argued that this multi-layered artistic project, designed to engage the local community, stands as a modern 'Gesamtkunstwerk' relevant to a local and global audience.
