Je vais commencer par une mention rapide du paysage religieux en Russie en général et dans le pays komi en particulier à l’époque post- soviétique. Ensuite, je présenterai l’activité d’un groupe protestant et les réactions qu’il suscite dans un village komi. Je décrirai brièvement l’activité et la structure de la communauté et j’essaierai d’identifier quelques-unes des motivations possibles qui peuvent pousser les habitants des villages de cette région à rejoindre le groupe protestant. En ce moment, les protestants sont repoussés par la majorité orthodoxe sur une position défensive, car le Komi moyen les regarde avec suspicion et dédain. Ce groupe protestant qui fonctionne depuis sept ans a fait beaucoup parler de lui et a suscité de l’hostilité dans la population locale, bien que le nombre de ses adhérents soit resté en fait fort modeste. This article starts with a quick overview of the general religious landscape in Russia and in the Komi Republic during the Soviet period. During the last decade, the activity of Protestant missions has become more and more intense all over Russian and especially in the peripheral areas. I will introduce the activity of a Protestant group and the reactions it has provoked. I start by describing briefly the community, its activity and its structure and I try to identify some of the possible motivations that local people have to join this group. An important point is the interaction between the Christian churches and the relationship between Protestants and Orthodox.At the moment, the Protestants are drawn by the Orthodox majority into a defensive position, for the average Orthodox Komi is suspicious and disapproves of them. This group has been working in the village for seven years, has been much talked about and has provoked the local population’s hostility albeit its numbers have remained modest.
