She was born in Khaimchiki and Vasili Milgichil confirms that she speaks a southern Itkana-variety of what we can call Paren Koryak. Nina's husband Vasili is director of ensemble "Fakel." ?Nina taught dance in the children's music school, and has been moving back and forth between Manily and Palana for about 5-6 years as of 2012. Learned Russian as 4th language starting in grad school and extensive residence in Kamchatka (1995 5mos, 1997-98 17 months). Had very good conversational skills by summer 1997 and fluent by early 1998, at least in listening. Has thick American accent. Knows a few words of Koryak for social situation.
