Transcription session with the Milgichils, working on excerpt from Paren 11Aug1998 Galina at rybalka-all.wav, starting about 29min into file. I have decided to set these files at 16/44.1 because they will be very long recordings and the density of original Koryak is low. Nina's husband Vasili is director of ensemble "Fakel." ?Nina taught dance in the children's music school, and has been moving back and forth between Manily and Palana for about 5-6 years as of 2012. Learned Russian as 4th language starting in grad school and extensive residence in Kamchatka (1995 5mos, 1997-98 17 months). Had very good conversational skills by summer 1997 and fluent by early 1998, at least in listening. Has thick American accent. Knows a few words of Koryak for social situation.
