Summary: | Benthonic and planktonic foraminifera were studied in 264 samples from cores 1 through 29 from Site 329, Leg 36, DSDP. The benthonic and planktonic foraminiferal assemblages of cores 2 through 27 suggest that they are early Pliocene in age. This is in disagreement with the conclusions drawn by the paleontological staff of Leg 36, according to which these cores are Miocene. Some probable explanations of this discrepancy are discussed. |
