Joubiniteuthis portieri (Joubin, 1912) is redescribed on the basis of new material from the Atlantic Ocean. Valdemaria danae Joubin, 1931, is synonymized with Joubiniteuthis portieri, and the peculiar hectocotylus previously described for V. danae is shown to be an artifact. The validity of the fami...
