The cruise had two main objectives: ·to educate undergraduate students in the handling of oceanographic instrumentation and in the collection and analysis of field data, ·to map the cold overflow to the North Atlantic and the warm inflow to the Nordic Seas over the ridge system between Greenland and Scotland, through Denmark Strait, across the Iceland Faroe Ridge, through the Faroe-Bank Channel, and across the Wyville Thomson Ridge and to study its variability.
