The results of comparative investigation of feeding and growth of young salmon are presented. The food supply and living conditions of different populations were estimated. The behaviour of young salmon in natural conditions was described. For characterization of the biotopes of salmon nursery areas in the rivers a detailed list of salmon food organisms was produced.
