The tavern had been operated by William Billinghurst, was purchased by the Rowland family in 1842, and was operated by them until 1849. It was sold at that time to conform with the wishes of the fiancee of Daniel Rowland. This young lady insisted that he sell the tavern before she would marry him. The tavern was torn down in 1872, but some of its furniture was kept by the Rowland family and is in the present exhibition." Tall cupboard made of pine in the Early Empire style from about 1825 lest by the Society for the Preservation of Landmarks in Western New York. Framed print of "Arctic Yager" by John James Audubon engraved, printed and Coloured by R. Havel, London, 1835, lent by The Rochester Historical Society.
