Maligne bolesti koje se javljaju u dječjoj dobi predstavljaju kako medicinski tako i psihosocijalni problem djeteta, obitelji i zajednice u kojem se nalazi. Dijagnosticiranje, liječenje te oporavak od ove vrste bolesti kod djece je zahtjevan klinički, organizacijski i edukacijski problem kojem je, kako zbog svoje specifičnosti obzirom na dobnu skupinu, tako i obzirom na bolest, nužno pristupiti s posebnom pažnjom. Vrlo bitan segment u postupku liječenja ovog oboljenja čini i prehrana. Invazivni terapijski postupci, slabost organizma, loše psihičko stanje su sami po sebi otežavajući čimbenici u cjelokupnom postupku. Dobra i kvalitetna prehrana doprinosi poboljšanju stanja organizma, jačanju istog te olakšava borbu sa malignim oboljenjima. Da bi se izbjegle komplikacije koje mogu nastati ukoliko pedijatrijski onkološki bolesnik ima problema sa prehranom, nužno je posvetiti pažnju u pogledu adekvatne prehrane i specifičnostima za svakog pojedinog pacijenta. Childhood malignancies represent both the medical and psychosocial problems of the child, family and community in which he or she is present. Diagnosing, treating and recovering from this type of illness in children is a clinical, organizational and educational challenging problem that, due to its specificity in terms of age and disease, needs to be addressed with particular care. Nutrition is a very important segment in the treatment of this disease. Invasive therapeutic procedures, weakness of the organism and poor mental state are aggravating factors in the overall procedure. Good and quality nutrition contributes to improving the body’s condition, strengthening it and facilitating the fight against malignant diseases. In order to avoid complications that may arise if a pediatric oncology patient has nutritional problems, it is necessary to pay attention to adequate nutrition and specificities for each individual patient.
