Tema ovog rada je pružiti uvid u područje polimernih kompozita ojačanih prirodnim vlaknima, uključujući njihovu strukturu, prednosti i nedostatke u odnosu na druge kompozitne materijale, te primjenu u proizvodnji. U radu su također pobliže pojašnjeni sami polimeri i njihova svojstva te neki od drugih kompozita i njihove podjele. Najviše pažnje je pak pridodano polimernim kompozitima, gdje su razrađeni materijali koji se upotrebljavaju za izradu takvih kompozita, te svojstva nekih od važnijih prirodnih vlakana. Pojašnjeni su i neki problemi do kojih može doći pri izradi polimernih kompozita ojačanih prirodnim vlaknima i postojeća rješenja za neke od njih. Dodatno je detaljno opisana primjena ovakvih kompozita u automobilskoj industriji i ostalim industrijama koje u velikoj mjeri takve kompozite upotrebljavaju. The subject of this thesis is to provide an insight into the area of natural fiber reinforced polymer composites with their structure, advantages and disadvantages in contrast to other composites and to show their role in the manufacturing process. Furthermore, polymers themselves and their properties are examined more closely including some other composites with their classification. Polymer composites are examined in most detail. Materials used in the production of these composites are explained as are the properties of some of the more important natural fibers. Problems that can arise in the manufacturing of natural fiber reinforced polymer composites are listed and some of the existing solutions are given. In addition, use of those composites, in automobile industry and other industries that exploit them, is explained thoroughly.
