U Jadranskom moru možemo pronaći morske sisavce poput sredozemne medvjedice (Monachus monachus) te nekoliko vrsta reda kitova. Red kitova (Cetacea) dijelimo na dva podreda: kitove zubane (Odontoceti) i kitove usane (Mysticeti) koje prvenstveno razlikujemo po usima/zubima, građi lubanje i obliku tijela. U ovom radu, osim nabrojanih kitova koji ponekad dolaze u Jadran, detaljnije su opisane vrste iz porodice Delphinidae. To su dobri dupin (Tursciops trucantus) koji je stalni stanovnik Jadrana, prugasti dupin (Stenella coeruleoalba), glavati dupin (Grampus griseus) koji borave u južnom dijelu Jadrana te obični dupin (Delphinus delphis) koji se smatra regionalno izumrlom vrstom. Većina vrsta nalazi se na IUCN- ovoj crvenoj listi što govori o njihovoj ugroženosti. Dupini su, kao i ostali morski sisavci ugroženi degradacijom staništa, prevelikom bukom, izlovom ribe te onečišćenjem (izljevima nafte, bacanjem plastičnog otpada i kemikalijama koje završavaju u Jadranskom moru). Kako bi ih se zaštitilo potrebno je provesti razna istraživanja i educirati stanovništvo In the Adriatic Sea marine mammals such as the Mediterranean seal (lat. In this paper, in addition to the shortly mentioned whales that sometimes come to the Adriatic, species from the family Delphinidae are described in more detail. These are the bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops trucantus) which is a permanent resident of the Adriatic, the striped dolphin (Stenella coeruleoalba), the bottlenose dolphin (Grampus griseus) living in the southern part of the Adriatic and the common dolphin (Delphinus delphis) which is considered regionally extinct species.
