Pomorstvo kao najefikasniji način prijevoza tereta i ljudi preko mora je isto tako i jedan od glavnih izvora onečišćenja morskog okoliša. Onečišćenju izvor može biti sami brod, a to je teret koji se prevozi ili gorivo i ulja koja se ispuštaju tijekom plovidbe. Drugi izvor onečišćenja mogu biti štetne tvari s obale. Tema ovoga rada su međunarodni i nacionalni propisi o zaštiti morskog okoliša i njihova uloga u spriječavanju mora od onečišćenja. Brojne konvencije koje su danas aktivne zabranjuju onečišćenje mora na sve načine, bilo to izbacivanjem, ispuštanjem, pražnjenjem, izlijevanjem ili curenjem. Države članice konvencija moraju se strogo pridržavati propisa kako bi more ostalo čisto i služilo kao stanište podvodnih organizama te važan izvor hrane. Seafaring as the most efficient way of transport of cargo and people across the sea is also one of the main sources of pollution of the marine environment. Pollution source can be the boat itself, which is the cargo that is transported or the fuel and the oils that are released during the voyage. Another source of pollution can be detrimental substances from the shore. The topic of this paper is international and national regulations on the protection of the marine environment and their role in preventing pollution from the sea. Numerous conventions that are active today prohibit pollution in all ways, whether by ejecting, releasing, emptying, spraying or curling. Member States of the Conventions must strictly comply with regulations to keep the sea clean and serve as a habitat of underwater organisms and important source of food.
