Denne oppgaven diskuterer hvordan den pågående avkoloniseringsdebatten reflekteres på musikkvitenskap ved NTNU. Målet med denne bacheloroppgaven er å vise hvordan rasistiske strukturer og kolonial arv påvirker studieprogrammet. Dette blir gjort gjennom analyse av de obligatoriske emnene, og jeg ser på hvordan, og om disse emnene passer inn i ‘Den hvite rammen’ som beskrevet av Philip Ewell. Videre viser jeg hvorfor NTNU har et særlig ansvar i forhold til deres egen koloniale arv i assimileringen av det samiske folk, og hvordan deres musikk, historie og kultur kan, og burde inkluderes i den musikkvitenskapelige undervisningen ved NTNU. This thesis discusses how the current decolonization debate is reflected in the musicology program at NTNU. The goal of this thesis is to show how racist structures and colonial heritage is present within this study program, which is done by analyzing the obligatory classes and seeing how, and if, they fit into “The White Racial Frame” as described by Philip Ewell. Further on I show why NTNU has a responsibility to take ownership of their own colonial history in regards to the assimilation of the Sámi people, and how their history, music and culture can be, and why it should be, included in the musicology program.
