Denne bacheloroppgaven diskuterer hva som kjennetegner nutidens forståelse av Peder Balkes senere landskapsmaleri, med utgangspunkt i maleriet Nordkapp. Teksten skriver om Balkes romantiske kunst, og hva som kjennetegner den, i tillegg til å drøfte om hvilke deler av Nordkapp som kan oppfattes som moderne og abstrakt.
