| Summary: | This paper describes and gives the results of a comprehensive study of the heating and ventilation of a prefabricated Army arctic hut carried out in the field during the winter of 1950-51. It is considerably longer than the usual research paper despite the substantial condensation of the results which has already been made, and in addition is of interest to a limited number of the readers of any one scientific or technical journal. On the other hand it contains much valuable information not available elsewhere for those interested in the performance of camp-type buildings heated with space heaters. In view of this the Division has adopted the unusual course of issuing this paper in the Research Paper series even though it has not first been published elsewhere. Ce document fournit la description et les résultats d'une étude in situ exhaustive du chauffage et de la ventilation d'un baraquement militaire arctique de type préfabriqué, réalisée au cours de l'hiver 1950-51. Il est d'une longueur considérablement supérieure à celle des mémoires de recherche habituels, en dépit de la condensation substantielle des résultats qui y sont exposés. En outre, ce document intéresse un nombre limité de lecteurs de journaux scientifiques ou techniques. Par contre, il contient plusieurs renseignements précieux, et qui ne sont disponibles nulle part ailleurs, pour les personnes intéressées par la performance des bâtiments du type campement qui sont chauffés au moyen de poêles. À la lumière de ceci, la Division a adopté la démarche inhabituelle qui consiste à publier ces travaux-ci dans le cadre de la série Documents de recherche en dépit du fait qu'il n'a pas déjà été publié ailleurs.
