Unsymmetrical cyclic loading led to compressive failure, in which the mode of failure was dependent on the amount of shear stress reversal. Symmetrical cyclic loading led to an extension failure characterized by large cyclic strains. The normalized cyclic deviator stress at failure for tests with K[C] = 2 was 125% higher than that for tests with K[ C] = 1. Le comportement du limon de la mer de Beaufort soumis à un chargement cyclique a été observé dans des conditions triaxiales, avec et sans contrainte de cisaillement statique, pour définir la résistance à la liquéfaction ou à la déformation cyclique dans diverses conditions de sollicitation cyclique. Le chargement cyclique asymétrique a conduit à la rupture par compression, dans laquelle le mode de rupture dépendait du degré d'asymétrie de la contrainte de cisaillement. Le chargement cyclique symétrique a mené à une rupture par extension caractérisée par de grandes déformations cycliques. Le déviateur du tenseur des contraintes cycliques normalisées à la rupture pour des essais avec K[C] = 2 a été de 125% supérieur à celui correspondant aux essais avec K[C] = 1.
