Reliable measurements of the rate sensitivity of strength and deformation modulus of young congealed frazil sea ice can be obtained irrespective of location. Observations of Poisson's ratio, its variation during the tests, and its dependence on rate of loading are discussed. Ce document décrit les méthodes employées pour effectuer et analyser des mesures de la résistance en compression uniaxiale et de la déformation, sur le terrain et en laboratoire, au moyen d'un appareil d'essais classique et d'un appareil fonctionnant en boucle fermée; on y expose aussi les procédures de prélèvement, d'expédition et de stockage des échantillons, ainsi que les résultats d'études microstructural. Il est possible d'obtenir, quel que soit l'endroit, des mesures fiables de l'influence de la vitesse de mise en charge sur la résistance et le module de déformation de frasil congelé provenant de glace jeune. L'auteur présente des données concernant le coefficient de Poisson, sa variation au cours des essais et sa dépendance à l'égard de la vitesse de mise en charge.
