| Summary: | During discussions with the Arctic Petroleum. Operators Association, it became clear that it would be useful to have a review and dis cussion of the problem. with particular reference to Arctic conditions. In response to the interest of the APOA, the Working Group on Ice Pressures organized a Workshop on the Interaction Between Ice and Structures. About 40 experts on ice and ice pressures were invited to partici pate. The subject was discussed in depth in three concurrent study sessions dealing with governent ofice, properties of ice, and the interaction between ice and structures. This Technical Mem.orandum. contains the record of these deliberations and the recommendations that were developed concerning needed research. Au cours d'échanges avec l'Association des exploitants pétroliers de l'Arctique (AEPA), il s'est dégagé clairement qu'il pourrait être utile d'examiner le problème et d'en discuter en faisant référence précisément aux conditions arctiques. En réponse à l'intérêt manifesté par l'AEPA, le groupe de travail sur la poussée des glaces a mis sur pied un atelier sur l'interaction glace-structures. Près de 40 experts de la question ont été invités à prendre part à l'événement. Le sujet a été traité à fond lors de trois (3) séances d'étude simultanées, où l'on s'est penché sur les charges gouvernementales, les propriétés de la glace et l'interaction entre la glace et les structures. Ce document technique contient le compte-rendu de ces délibérations ainsi que les recommandations qui ont été développées concernant les besoins en matière de recherche.
