Description
Summary:Information and communication technologies (ICT) are valuable tools used to establish and maintain connections within and between remote and rural First Nations communities across Canada, and between urban centres and these communities. For the past decade, various research projects have investigated different aspects of ICT use by and with these communities. However, an overview of this research has not been published. This paper, a literature review, explains the history of ICT and First Nations communities, policies and partnerships for broadband services in First Nations, how remote and rural First Nations are accessing and using ICT, and how to make the broadband networks and ICT sustainable.
