To this end, a logical approach has been developed to provide a platform for this scientific basis. The approach is based on an empirical evaluation of the behaviour of ships in ice-covered waters. It is developed in 7 different Tasks. This paper provides a short introduction to the existing Ice Regime System, and presents the methodology for developing a scientific basis for the Ice Regime System.
