Arthur Bender was born to Fred and Emelia (Miller) Bender on November 9, 1922, in Whishek, North Dakota. He completed school through eighth grade with positive grade marks, at his local country school. Later, Arthur went on to complete his High School Equivalency test and received his North Dakota High School Diploma in 1960. His occupations veered towards agriculture and included: farmer, cattle buyer, and Vermeer Equipment dealer. In his lifetime, Arthur was married twice.
