Reindeer Lake in Northern Saskatchewan, which they started in 1971. They spend summers at the lodge and from October to May in Tolna. Ray and Georgiana Engen Ray Engen Family Ray Engen, the son of Albert and Marie Engen, who immigrated to the United States in 1884 from Nordland, Norway, was born on the ship. He was the fourth child in a family of seven children. His folks settled on a farm near Angus, Minn. After finishing grade and high school he took a business course at Thief River Falls, Minn. His first job away from the farm was in a lumber yard at Hector, Minn. Later he managed a lumber yard at Garske, N.D., coming to Tolna to manage the Nortz Lumber Yard in 1916. He started in the banking business in 1918 and when he passed away in 1967 he had forty-nine years of dedicated banking to his credit. He was also responsible for the many conveniences and improvements we have in Tolna. His wife Georgiana (Schmid) has lived in Tolna her entire life, coming here with her parents and brother at the age of three years. Their four children are: Mylo - married to Bernice (Vrem) is employed at the Tolna Bank. Tom -married to Beverly (Bina) is employed at the Tolna Bank. Marilyn (Mrs. Gerry Gellner) lives in Billings, Montana, where her husband teaches. Mary Ann is a teacher at Las Vegas, Nevada. There are six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Tom Engen Family Beverly Bina, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bina of Pekin and Tom Engen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Engen of Tolna were married on September 8, 1958 at the Pekin Lutheran Church. They have two sons, Robert and Steve. Robert married Vicky Burley of Casselton on May 31,1980. Steve is attending U.N.D. Tom has been an officer at the Tolna Bank since 1958. Robert Engen is also employed there. The Ray Flohr Family, 1967. Ray Flohr Family Ray Flohr was born in Tolna in 1918, son of Gena and Otto Flohr. He graduated from Tolna High School in 1937, then attended Dakota Business College in Fargo. He began work in the bank in Tolna in 1939 where he is still employed. He was treasurer of the school board for 20 years and has been city auditor for 36 years. He has served on the Nelson County Housing Authority for 10 years and spent 3% years in the service of our Country, 1942-46. He was in Germany and Japan. He married Marian Thorson on March 29, 1944. They lived in California until he went overseas in 1945. He was discharged from the army in 1946 and they have lived in Tolna ever since. Marian was born in 1919. Her parents were Mary and Ted Thorson. She attended grade school and 2 years of high school in Devils Lake, and graduated from Tolna High in 1937. She graduated from Mayville State College and taught school in Fordville and Tolna. She also worked at Mare Island Naval Station during the war. Ray and Marian have three children and four grandchildren. Jeanne graduated from Tolna High School and the University of North Dakota. She married Conrad Paulus. They have three children and now live in Bridgewater Township, N.J. Bob graduated from Tolna High and U.N.D. He married Claudia Suko of Jamestown. They have a daughter and live in Fargo.
