Peterson was born in Meeker County Minnesota June 20,1868. He married Annie Marie Anderson, January 20, 1900. In the year 1898 he settled first in Nesheim Township, then moved into Lee Township as a farmer after the railroad was build. He was interested and worked towards the improvement and building of good roads, churches and schools, schools. John Peterson passed away September 14,1928 at the farm home. Annie Marie passed away June 1,1947. Children from this union are: Mrs. Albert Kroke (Pearl) Bremerton, Washington; Mrs. Obert Kroke (Mabel) deceased. MR. & MRS. WILLIAM C. POLIS William C. Polis was born March 4, 1869 at Dodgeville, Wisconsin. He came to Field Township in 1882. November 4, 1892 he married Emma Helgeland who came with her parents and brothers to North Dakota and settled in Nesheim Township along the Sheyenne River. After their marriage they lived in Nesheim Township on what is known now as the Anton Rorvig farm. They retired from farming and moved to McVille in 1924 and in 1940 they moved to Pekin. Mrs. Polis died December 6, 1945 and Mr. Polis died September 3, 1947. They had eleven children: Ella Thompson (deceased); Anna Ryan, Devils Lake, N.D.; Ida Johnson, (deceased); Roy Polis, Pekin, ND; Edwin Polis (deceased); Mabel Schindele, Lakota, ND; Oscar Polis, McVille, ND; Cora Rutten, Lakota, ND; Thelma Nelson, Devils Lake, ND; Arthur Polis, Stacey, MN; Evelyn Nelson, (deceased). MR. & MRS. OSCAR POLIS Oscar Polis was born in Nesheim Township October 23, 1%5, the son of Mr. & Mrs. William Polis. He was raised in the McVille community and on November 6, 1928 he married Elsie Sannes. Elsie was born in Osago Township, March 28, 1908. They have lived in McVille all their married lives. Oscar was a barber during most of his life until his retirement in 1970. He served in the U.S. Army for 29 months beginning May 7, 1943 and was with the 9206th Technician Service Unit. He trained in California and was discharged in California September 29,1945. Ole Paulson Place. Oscar and Pauline Stenslie lived here. MR. & MRS. OLE PAULSON Ole Paulson was born at Flaa, Hallingdal, Norway on June 24, 1870; Mari Stoen Paulson was born at Flaa also. Ole came to the McVille area in 1893. They lived on a farm in Hamlin Twp. 512 miles NW of McVille. Mari died at her home July 4, 1911 and Ole died at home June 22, 1915. They had six children: Anna (Bjornstad), deceased; Malla (Mrs. Olaf Ophaug) deceased December 22, 1972; Ida (Berwick), Inglewood, CA; Clara (Helland), deceased April 7, 1%7; Ruth (Disbrow), Tucson, AZ; Peter Paulson, deceased November 10,1972. 235 Scanned with a Zeutschel Zeta book scanner at 300 dpi.
