| Summary: | LEWIS LOBERG Lewis Loberg came to Pingree, North Dakota April 17, 1906 by train. He was born December 3, 1869 at Silver Lake, Iowa. His wife, Aase Hanson was born May 22, 1868 in Iowa, and they came to North Dakota because of his wife's "TB" condition. North Dakota was good for her as she recovered. They moved on a farm three miles east of Pingree where they built their first house in 1906. Since known as the Daugs home. Eleanor's parents and mine were good friends. They had two daughters born to them in Silver Lake, Iowa. Cora Loberg, was first Sunday School superintendent at the Pingree Lutheran Church. Elvine Loberg, born January 3, 1899 at Silver Lake, Iowa. Married Leonard Strong May 1, 1917 in Pingree Lutheran Church by Rev. J.C. Wisnaes with Kenneth Wanner and Cora Loberg as attendents. They had two daughters: Francis Mae, born 1918, died and buried at Ames, Iowa. Was an English teacher. Marian Winnifred, born 1921, lives in Seattle, Washington area. !s English teacher and counseler. All were graduates of Pingree High School. Elvine went three months to Dakota Business College in Fargo, North Dakota. She also was the organist for Pingree Lutheran Church for many years. Her husband, Leonard Strong, died in Jamestown May 1, 1952 and is buried in Pingree Cemetery. She married Louis H. Ratzlaff on December 22, 1958 in Jamestown by Rev. Nestigen with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wanner as their witnesses. They now live in Seattle, Washington. ROBERT PATRICK MAGILL Robert was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Magill of Verona, North Dakota. He was born January 23, 1889 near Verona, Dakota Territory. He was married to Nellie Jones who was born June 16, 1884 at Montrose, South Dakota (then Dakota Territory). They came to Pingree in 1915 to farm. Their farm was located two miles east and one mile south of Pingree. They attended St. Michael's church in Pingree and their children attended Pingree Public School. Their children were: Marie (Mrs. Robin Dee Koppenhaver) born June 20, 1910 at Oakes, North Dakota. She finished the grades and high school in Pingree. Their early day neighbors were Mickey Fales, A.B. Latta, L.A. Larson, Theo. Verlinden, Henry Meyer, August Daugs, Roy Moran and Ike Campbell. She has three children. Richard G. Koppenhaver is in insurance business in Grand Forks. P. Bruce 190 Koppenhaver is occupation controller, Arctic Enterprises at Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Michael Koppenhaver lives in Thunder Bay, Ontario, engaged as sales representative for a chemical company. Helen (Mrs. Louis Kranda) born January 23, 1913 at Oakes, North Dakota. They left North Dakota in 1936 for Scio, Oregon. Worked at Boeing's in Renton, Washington after a number of moves are now retired in Albany, Oregon. Their children are: Delores Marie Kranda Arneson, housewife in Anaheim, California, two children. Robert J. Kranda, key man with the telephone company in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, three children. Emmet M. Magill, born October 30, 1914, married Ethel Amsbury on September 17, 1938 in Helena, Montana. He worked as a ship fitter for four and one-half years in the Seattle-Tacoma Shipyard in Tacoma, Washington. He and his sons started their own excavating and construction company in 1967 and are still operating. He mentioned that he belonged to Boy Scouts under the leadership of Don Wanner. He played basketball from the fifth grade through the sophomore year. Have three children: Ronald, now excavating contractor; Donald a building contractor, now deceased since September 1978. Joseph Robert Magill, born October 15, 1917 at Trinity Hospital (Sisters of St. Joseph) Jamestown, North Dakota. He served in the Army from 1940 to 1967. Retired Sgt./Major. Served in South Pacific area, Japan, Germany, Korea, Turkey and various U.S. posts. Presently residing with his wife Irma of 42 years in Sierra Vista, Arizona. They have three children: Patricia, a purchasing agent, Pima Mines, Green Valley, Arizona; Maureen, housewife, Phoenix, Arizona; Mary Kathleen, decorator, Los Angeles, California. JOHN MANLEY John Manley was born in Woodworth, and lived in Roundtop Township most of his school days. He attended Blue School, Roundtop School and Pingree School. He spent time with the U.S. Navy. John Manley and Shirley Schlesser were married September 20th. They moved to Wisconsin and were engaged in farming there. Six of their eight children were born at Wabasha, Minnesota: Mike, Betty, Mary, Tom, Steve and Julie. In 1963 they moved to Pingree and farmed with his parents until later years when they (Wayne and Mabel) moved to Jamestown. Kathryn and Faith were born in Jamestown. Mike graduated from Pingree in 1974 and is Scanned with a Zeutschel Zeta book scanner at 300 dpi. Edited in Multi-page TIFF Editor.
