He was a trucker and railroad worker until we went to Seattle where he became a boilermaker by trade, working at that until his sudden death on May 30,1971 of a heart attack. He is buried in Greenland Cemetery, Lynnwood, Washington. ROBERT AND AURIOL MILLER McCARL Robert McCarl was born on August 25, 1920 at Braddock, North Dakota, to Mr. and Mrs. A.H. McCarl. He is from a family of 11 children. Robert attended school in the Moffit-Sterling area and farmed in Taft Township before moving to Bismarck in 1970, where he is employed with Melroe. Auriol Miller was born on October 31, 1917, in Wisconsin. She moved to the Bismarck area when she was a young girl and attended the Arnold School north of Bismarck. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1935, attended Capital Commercial College, and worked for Emergency Crop & Feed Loans for three years (1936-1939) before her marriage to Cecil Morris. They had three children: Carol, Douglas and Larry. Cecil was killed in a tractor accident in September 1948. Auriol and her children then moved to the Sterling area in Taft Township and lived with her parents Andrew and Minie Bertsch. On December 16, 1950, Robert McCarl and Auriol Miller Morris were married at Helena, Montana. They have two daughters, Linda and Donna. Auriol was clerk of the Taft Township Board for a number of years. She was employed with the State Tax Department for one year, for the State Bank of Burleigh County for 12 years, and now works part time at the bank. Auriol and her mother, Minnie Bertsch, spent six weeks in Germany during 1980, where Mrs. Bertsch celebrated her 93rd birthday with her brother and sister. Bob and Auriol have 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They live at 1404 Thayer Avenue in Bismarck. Carol Morris was born August 16,1939. She started school north of Bismarck before moving to the Sterling area in 1948, where she attended the White and Sterling schools. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1957. She married Clarence Stenerson on September 6, 1957. They lived in Driscoll for a short time where their daughter, Deborah, was born on July 13, 1958. They then moved to Missoula, Montana, where Kevin was born on June 10, 1964, and Teri Lee was born on November 7, 1965. Their daughter, Debbie, married Jim Webster in March 1980. They have a daughter, Brittney Dawn. Clarence is a building contractor and they presently live in Salem, Oregon. Douglas Morris was born June 29, 1943. He lived north of Bismarck until the family moved to Taft Township in 1948, where he attended school at the Robert and Auriol McCarl.
