Description
Summary:Jerry Bucher, both of Bisbee; and Teddy Edward- son, Jean Geibs and Terry Welander, all of Mylo. "Mylo defeated the host team, Knox, for the state championship." In 1972 Neameyer managed Rolla to the state Class A championship and then topped that with a 3-1 decision over Class AA titlist Grand Forks McDonald's for the overall North Dakota amateur baseball crown. He handled all the details for Mylo, Mylo-Rolla and Rolla amateur teams from scheduling to keeping the diamonds in shape. Bob was inducted into the association of North Dakota Amateur Baseball League's annual Hall of Fame February 18, 1976. The induction rites were held during the ANDABL's annual Hall of Fame banquet which was held at Kyle Elementary School in Rolla that year. Master of Ceremonies was Russ Smith, sports director at KXMC-TV, Minot. Members of that state amateur team in 1972 were Gordon Roberge, Dwane Getzloff, Lester Thomas, Larry Thomas, Curt Berg, Jim Welch, Elmer Neameyer, Mike Walsh, Jim Berube, Dennis Burkholder, Tom Kurtti and Steve Juntunen. Gordon Roberge, Lester Thomas and Dwane Getzloff were named to the All-Star Class A team. Robert Schultz assisted Neameyer as manager of this team. It would be impossible to document the time, effort and money that Robert Neameyer expended to foster Rolla's oldest and still most popular sport. The congratulatory note extended by the Rolla Chamber of Commerce and published by the Turtle Mountain Star which follows expresses the community's feelings. A lighted field in Rolla, with seating for 2,000 people, bears Robert Neameyer's name.
