| Summary: | Five Generation Picture Mrs. John (Inga) Lunde, Mrs. Herbert (Olga) Bauer, Bertha Renz, Eugene Renz and son, Brian Renz. married Corinne Moch in September, 1977; they live in Cambridge, MN, where she is a physical therapist at the state hospital there and Gary is a certified welder for a tank company. Bertha and Calvin farmed in the Moffit area for two years. They came to Oregon in 1946 and lived there two years, then farmed again in the Moffit area for 23 years. Calvin was ill with a serious heart ailment for 11 Vi years and passed away in December 1976. Bertha works for Beeline Fashions and was leave replacement in the postoffice until the fall of 1979. Bertha married Ernest Renz in July of 1978. They moved from their farms east and west of Moffit and now live in a new home they built together in Moffit. Ethel went to school in Moffit, Bismarck and Valley City, ND, and taught school one year near Bismarck, ND. She continued her teachers training in Portland and Monmouth, OR, and has taught school since. She married Averil Moehnke in December 1946. They had three sons: Jonny, Tommy and Wesley. Jonny Averil, born January 1949, enjoyed farm live and school years living in Beaver- creek until his death in December 1965. Tommy Oscar, born October 1952, married Teri Logsdon in November 1972. They have one daughter, Erin Elizabeth, born January 1977. They live in Trialatin, OR, where Tom is employed as sales and travel representative for the Redline Agricultural Equipment Co., Woodburn, OR. Wesley Grover, born October 1958, lives at home and operates the cattle and berry farm with his father. Ethel, Averil and Wesley live on their farm in Beavercreek, OR. Dorothy went to school in Moffit and Bismarck, ND, and Oregon City, OR. She married Robert Bradley in Oregon City in December 1947. They have two children: Rick and Linda. Ricky Lynn, born May 1949, married Debbie Katt in April 1971. Their children are Rich Jon, May 1963, and Richelle Grace, September 1975. Rick, Debby and children now live in Phoenix, AZ, and Rick is employed with Smitty's Grocery and Variety stores. Linda Louise, born July 1956, married Mitch Wing in September 1979. They now live in Milwaukie, OR, where Linda works as a beautician and Mitch will complete teachers trailing from Portland State University in the spring of 1980. Bob and Dorothy live in Willamette and Portland, OR, and moved to Astoria, OR, in 1974. Bob is employed as Safeway manager and has worked with Safeway since before their marriage. Edward went to school in Moffit, ND. He worked on his sister Bertha's farm at Moffit, ND, and on his sister Ethel's farm at Beavercreek, OR. He went into the marines in 1952 and served two years in California. He came home to Oregon in July 1954. He passed away in August 1954, age 23. Marcella went to school in Moffit, ND, and Oregon city, OR. She married Robert Logan in December 1951 in Beavercreek, OR. They have two children, Kathy and Chris. Kathleen Ann, born November 1952, married Tim Rankin in September, 1974. They have one daughter, Jennifer Jean, born June 1978. They live in Heppner, OR, where Tim works as a sheet metal worker. Chris Benz, born March 1954, married Billie Hamilton in 1975. They have two children, Chris Benz, Jr., born May 1976, and Melissa Marie, born July 1979. They live in Oregon City, OR, where Chris is employed with Omark Sawchain Industries. Marcy and Bob live on their farm at Beavercreek, OR, where they have lived since their marriage. Bob is employed as grader operator with Clackamas County Road Dept. He has been with the road department since before their marriage. Pearl went to school in Moffit, ND, and Oregon City, OR. She married Max Asbahr in August of 1953. They had three children: Dale, Valurie and Terry. Dale Eugene, born November 1954, works as a deep sea diver and lives in Oregon City, OR. Valurie Kay, born November 1955, is employed with Handyman Hardware and lives in Milwaukie, OR. Terry Lee, born September 1958 is employed with a Portland Iron and Pipe Co. and lives in Redland, OR. Pearl was divorced in 1973 and lived in an apartment in Oregon City, OR, until her untimely death in December 1979, at age 44. VALENTINE BENZ FAMILY 116 The Valentine Benz Family Valentine and Katharina Benz were pioneers of Logan, Kidder and Burleigh counties. Valentine was born in Germany on February 7, 1861. He worked for his father making tombstones. The dust from grinding and sanding the tombstones caused him to have asthma. In 1880 he came to the USA to see if his health would be better on a farm. He homesteaded in Logan County near Napoleon. In 1881, he wrote for Katharina Youch to come from Germany. Katharina and her sister, Leona, came and found work at Lake City, MN.
